From the foreword
"Sunday morning, about an hour after daybreak, she pushes open the glass door that leads onto a wide porch on the edge of the valley. Sunlight from the east overlaps the contoured bands of the hills, silver belts of fog, and the geometry of the vineyards and orchards. Taking a thick cotton rope in both hands she gives a strong pull and sends the peals of an old brass bell past a white-plastered chapel, beyond a gracious house under moss-mottled tiles, and through the gardens to call the hungry.
Welcome to The Bishop's Ranch: a place where the simple hunger of our bodies is sated with delicious, nourishing food, and the subtle hunger of our minds and souls find respite in nature's hospitality and beauty."
Sean Swift Executive Director, The Bishop's Ranch
