, Principal Organist of Grace Cathedral from 2003-2005, playing the Cathedral's Aeolian-Skinner organ (Opus 910 - 1934).
Susan Jane Matthews
completed her Masters of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in organ performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music as a student of David Higgs. She has served as Director of Music at St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene Episcopal Church, Rochester, New York and St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral, Boise, Idaho. The winner of the 1998 John R. Rodland Memorial Scholarship Competition held in New Jersey, she also received First Place in the 1993 American Guild of Organists Region III Competition for Young Organists in Wilmington, Delaware. At the 2003 AGO Regional Convention in Salt Lake City, she served as organist for the opening service and presented a lecture recital on the legendary French organist Jeanne Demessieux. She frequently performs throughout the United States. She was appointed Assistant Organist of Grace Cathedral, San Francisco in 2001 and served as Principal Organist from 2003-2005.
