Description

The first openly gay person to be elected to public office in the United States, Harvey Milk (1930-1978) was a Supervisor in the City and County of San Francisco.  Running for office without political experience, Milk was determined to give a voice to those who had none - the poor, the elderly, racial minorities, and gay men and women.  Enraged by Milk's defense of gay people, Dan White shot Harvey Milk five times at close range in San Francisco City Hall on November 27, 1978.  That night over 40,000 San Franciscans kept a candlelight vigil on the steps of the same building.

The artist, Robert Lentz, ofm, is a Franciscan friar currently stationed in Houston, TX.  His work is known around the world and reflects his experience among the poor in this country and in the Third World.

Mounted on a one-half inch thick wooden plaque, this icon has beveled edges and a satin finish.

  • Small - 4 inches X 5 inches - $24.99
