This icon depicts one of the great mystics of the Anglican faith, John Donne (1572-1631).  In this image, Christ radiates in a fiery orb from Donne's heart.  Bridging the Middle Ages and the modern world, Donne insisted that Christianity was indeed viable and must retain its transcendental dimension.  He served as Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in London and taught that we all must be transfigured in Christ.

The artist, Robert Lentz, ofm, is a Franciscan friar currently stationed in Houston, TX.  His work is known around the world and reflects his experience among the poor in this country and in the Third World.

Mounted on a one-half inch thick wooden plaque, this icon has beveled edges and a satin finish.
