This icon depicts
Mary Magdalene, a complex and thought-provoking woman. Her support of Jesus' ministry, presence at the cross, and witness to His resurrection has led many to call her "equal to the apostles".
The artist,
Robert Lentz, ofm, is a Franciscan friar currently stationed in Houston, TX. His work is known around the world and reflects his experience among the poor in this country and in the Third World.
Mounted on a one-half inch thick wooden plaque, this icon has beveled edges and a satin finish.

This particular icon was commissioned by Grace Cathedral upon the occasion of the election of the first female Bishop in the Anglican Communion, Barbara Harris, and it can be found on the Chapel of Grace porch in Grace Cathedral.
