This sterling silver St. Christopher medal, the patron saint of travelers and sports, is approximately 3/4 inches in diameter with an 18 inch sterling silver chain.  It is packaged in a burgundy velveteen hinged box.

St. Christopher is a venerated saint, listed as a martyr killed in the reign of the third century Roman emperor Decius (reigned 249–251). He is considered the patron saint of travelers and the patron saint of sports. However, St. Christopher's feast day was removed from the universal calendar of saints by the Vatican in 1969 due to lack of historical evidence. It is unclear whether the man in question actually existed and if so, whether he lived a life of holiness.  However, his legacy remains among the most revered.
